Kiarostami reflects on Iran’s social realities and women’s struggles through a female taxi driver in Tehran and her conversations with various passengers. In the ten sequences—counting down from ten to one—the recently divorced and remarried Driver (Mania Akbari) gives a ride to her 10-year-old son Amin (Amin Maher), who cannot accept the reality of her divorce. She gives lifts to her sister, an old woman who is going to Ali Akbar’s mausoleum, and a prostitute who wants to pick up clients. In the private space inside the cab, these women exchange their views on relationships.
