Synopsis
The Belgian masters The Dardenne Brothers continue their incredible run of form with another brilliantly observed slice of working-class life. When Sandra, a married woman with children, returns to the factory after a nervous breakdown, she is distressed again for being fired. Her colleagues, who can work harder to cover her will gain 1000 bonus for her leave. Supported by her husband, Sandra persuades the staff representative to institute a vote between her colleagues to re-decide whether earn the bonus or save her life. Before the Monday morning voting, she spends the whole weekend to beg all her colleagues, who are at the same pitiable situation, to sympathize with her. During which, her depression symptoms are also increasing. While struggling for keeping her work, her dignity, hope, and health, which are supposed to be the purpose for working, are all at stake…… Director
