‘Dick Laurent is dead.’ The film begins with a cryptic message on the intercom and saxophonist Fred’s growing suspicion that his wife Renee is cheating on him. After Fred is held responsible for her murder, the narrative suddenly shifts to a young mechanic seduced by Alice, the mistress of a gangster whom he works for. A 1940’s noir filtered through Lynch’s twisted mind, Lost Highway is a demented mystery thriller that takes its viewers on an unpredictable ride fueled by sex, violence and an eclectic soundtrack that includes Trent Reznor, Rammstein and David Bowie.
