Synopsis
The pioneering Italian writer, Goliarda Sapienza, was recognised by the literary world posthumously. In the late 70s, she completed her magnum opus, The Art of Joy. In 1980, Sapienza is imprisoned for stealing jewellery. Her encounter with the inmates is life-changing. After she gets out of prison, she continues a deep bond with Roberta, a young repeat offender and political activist. A connection no one on the outside can truly understand, but through which Sapienza rediscovers the joy of living and the drive to write again.Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, Nastri d'Argento Awards
