Synopsis
In the bustling heart of Rio de Janeiro’s main railway station, jaded former schoolteacher Dora writes letters for the illiterate. The mundane daily routine is quickly interrupted, however, when she is faced with the moral decision of whether to take care of the clueless son of her client who is accidentally killed. Oscillating between her moral convictions and a deep-seated reluctance to engage, Dora ultimately decides to lend a helping hand.Together, they embark on a road trip in search of the boy's long-missing father. Their journey is fraught with countless arguments and struggles, yet through these challenges, they begin to forge an unexpected bond that offers both healing and redemption.Winner of three awards at the Berlin Film Festival, including the Golden Bear for Best Film and Silver Bear for Best Actress, as well as Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards.
