Synopsis
Happy birthday to Nureyev!

This moving documentary by BAFTA-nominated directors Jacqui and David Morris traces the extraordinary life of Rudolf Nureyev. From his lowly origins, born on a trans-Siberian train, Nureyev came to ballet relatively late but would become one of the world’s most extraordinary dancers. He was the most famous male dancer of his time and a global cultural phenomenon, with his life story reading like a sprawling epic novel. The documentary also highlights Nureyev’s partnership with ballerina Margot Fonteyn and the impact the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s had on dance.

This screening is in celebration of Nureyev's birthday on 17 Mar and Lam Chun-wing, Sujet of the Paris Opera Ballet where Nureyev served as Director from 1983 to 1989, will share the lasting impact the great master has had on ballet.
