Brothers Abang and Adi are undocumented orphans living in present-day Pudu, Malaysia. With no parents, no identification, and no home, they must strive to live against all odds. As a deaf mute, the older Abang is an altruistic do-gooder succumbing to the cruel reality, while the younger Adi is an unrestrained rascal, willing to take risks to make a better living. However, when a brutal accident upsets the fragile status-quo of their lives, the brothers’ fates are sealed. Director Jin Ong’s remarkable award-winning debut achieves the verisimilitude and pathos of neorealism while offering a rare glimpse into Malaysian street life.
