Synopsis
What do Madonna, Janis Joplin, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Mark Twain, Stanley Kubrick, Pink Floyd, and Andy Warhol have in common? They all lived in the Chelsea Hotel, where they created some of their most famous works. One cannot help but wonder: how does architecture inspire artists? Why did almost all the influential cultural figures of the twentieth come to the Chelsea Hotel for inspiration?

Directors Maya Duverdier and Amélie van Elmbt wander through the building with a camera in their hands to capture the ephemeral relationship between Chelsea and arts. Chelsea was once regarded as a heaven for the cultivation of creativity by generations of artists. However, just as the other old buildings in New York, the fate of renovation is inescapable for Chelsea. The lyrical documentary interrogates how one can survive as an artist and the dilemmas of preservation.
