Synopsis
As the Chinese title conveys, Huang Hsin-yao’s documentary is set in Beimen, Jiangjun and Cigu, three coastal townships in Tainan County. And as the English title conveys, the film is an observational piece that sees Huang, a Tainan native who has lived in the region since 2005, casting a distant, silent gaze upon everyday scenes in those places. Expanding his 2012 short documentary to epic length, Huang’s perspective documents a place with a unique, rural charm and a place that is both ever-changing and seemingly stuck in time.
