Synopsis
From surreal memories of WWII to modern day Berlin, Kornél Mundruczó’s (White God, 39th) Holocaust-themed triptych draws on the lives of three generations of Jewish survivors, ensnared by the pain and stigma deeply etched into their family history. Realised through a profoundly personal script by his wife and collaborator Kata Wéber, this poignant drama, beginning with a child’s miraculous survival of a Nazi extermination camp, reveals the contradictions and challenges of a society still nursing the wounds of its past.
