Synopsis
Hasan makes his living farming the land left to him by his father, but learns that an electricity pylon is soon to be erected on his property. Forced to deal with this news just as he and his wife are preparing to make their pilgrimage to Mecca, Hasan must resolve a number of lingering issues from his past. Beautifully shot to accentuate the vastness of the Turkish countryside, Kaplanoglu’s (Honey, 35th) sombre drama details the plight of a challenged landowner, master over his domain until confronted by corruption and bureaucracy from above.
