The Matchmaker(DFF 2019)

Photographer Chris is forced to return to his birthplace when he runs out of cash, but he seems to have troubles settling in the village community. In order to get some quick cash, he undertakes to create a promotional video for a dating site – and who else is a better protagonist than his own still-charming single mother Marja? The video goes viral even before Marja realises, and soon gentleman callers flock to knock on their door. While Chris wants to leave home sooner than later, Marja appoints him as the “dating coach” and keeps him by her side. After making many award-winning short films, Jeroen Houben makes this light and warm comedy as his feature debut which soon became a box office hit and attracts over 100,000 Dutch to the cinema.
