Morishita Noriko began taking tea ceremony lessons when she was still a college student. What began as a simple weekly activity becomes a lifelong pursuit – and ultimately the subject of her 2002 essay. Director Omori Tatsushi (Tada's Do-it-all House: Disconcerto, Ravine of Goodbye, HKAFF 11th) adapts the essay into this transcendent drama. A loving tribute to one of Japan’s most beloved cultural traditions, the film traces the journey of a woman who comes to view the art form as a constant, comforting presence through all of life’s challenges. In one of her final roles, legendary actress Kiki Kirin commands the screen as Morishita’s strict, but caring tea ceremony teacher.
