Synopsis
Washed up horror film star Siu-Ho, who was the star of Mr. Vampire, moves into a dilapidated, haunted house. Before he can follow through on his suicide plan, spirits show up from all directions to claim his soul, revealing a new world that he thought had only existed in his movies. Fortunately, he is survived by Yau, a retired vampire hunter. Siu-Ho gradually gets to know his neighbors Yang Feng, a traumatized woman and Pak, her son with albino. At the same time, Auntie Meiyi's husband Uncle Tung has accidentally fallen down the stairs and died. She requests Gau to resurrect Tung's corpse… Director Juno Mak pays homage to the classic Hong Kong vampire films of the 1980’s with appearances by Mr. Vampire stars Chin Siu-Ho (playing an alternate reality version of himself), Anthony Chan and even a contemporary version of the hopping vampires from those films. Rigor Mortis is an eerie and visually striking spectacle that ushers in a new era of Hong Kong horror cinema. Director
