Synopsis

Influenced by Franz Kafka, Nikolai Gogol, and events from his own life, David Lynch made his feature film debut with a film that, even four decades later, remains one of the most terrifying films ever made about the fear of parenthood. When his girlfriend abandons their deformed child, Henry is forced to care for the child by himself. Henry spirals into madness as he is overwhelmed by dreams of a singing lady in the radiator, his obsession over a beautiful neighbor, and the cries of his grotesquely deformed son. Lynch’s eye for haunting visuals and meticulous use of sound created a surreal, bizarre, and oddly beautiful horror masterpiece that marked the arrival of a visionary filmmaker who would become one of the most influential voices of American cinema.
