Filmed in haunting black-and-white visuals, Out follows Tom and Ajani, a pair of high school sweethearts, as they make their move from a small rural Dutch town to the big city of Amsterdam. Filled with boundless possibilities, from playful games of Never Have I Ever, limousine rides, and bathhouse visits, the city initially offers them an escape from their small-town upbringing, but challenges soon emerge, driving them to question the differences in their identities, self-expression, and lifestyles. Dennis Alink’s intimate portrait of two young men offers a raw and unwanted look at figuring out who you are and where you truly belong.
