One of the most important artists of our era, Ryuichi Sakamoto had a prolific career spanning more than four decades, going from a techno-pop star to an Oscar-winning film composer. His musical styles evolved throughout his life and, after the Fukushima disaster, Sakamoto became an iconic figure in Japan’s social movement against nuclear power. As he returned to music following his cancer diagnosis, Sakamoto’s haunting awareness of life led to a resounding new masterpiece.
