In a shoddy seaside town, a teenage boy desperately wants to leave home after meeting his mother’s toxic new boyfriend, while a teenage girl enters an improper relationship with a soccer coach. The two scheme to leave for greener pastures, but they end up getting deeper into trouble instead. Hsu Li-da’s feature directorial effort is a gritty slow-burn drama about two young souls’ futile search for hope in a world where people exploit, use and abuse one another, and their only sin is being forced to grow up far too early.
