Synopsis

An unexpected phone call reconnects Tanaka with his estranged father. It turns out his father has developed rapidly progressive dementia, but his partner, the woman he left the family for when Tanaka was a child, has gone mysteriously missing. Can we still hold fast to a relationship with someone whose memory becomes unreliable? Emerging Japanese director Kei Chika-ura joins forces with Hirokazu Kore-eda’s frequent collaborator Yutaka Yamazaki and legendary actor Tatsuya Fuji, capturing the perplexity derived from the great absence of memories on 35mm.
