Synopsis

Young Sinan returns to his hometown to become a teacher like his father, a gambling addict who’s long since lost his ambition. However, Sinan has dreams: He wants to self-publish his own novel, and his quest to do so proves both frustrating and revelatory. Unfolding via Ceylan’s trademark extended conversations, The Wild Pear Tree explores existence, philosophy, humanity and art with the dexterity and intelligence expected of one of the most acclaimed filmmakers working today.
