Yoko has been socially isolated for years. When she receives the news of her estranged father’s death, she is forced to ride with her cousin to return home for the first time in 24 years, only to be left stranded on the highway rest stop alone. Without a cell phone nor money for public transport, Yoko has to hitch rides to make it to her father’s funeral. A journey of self-discovery and healing, this road movie directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri is a long-waited second collaboration with Rinko Kikuchi since 2001.
