The best told horror stories are those haunted by apparitions of our cruel reality. After the death of the family patriarch, Mariam, a young medical student, and her family are left unshielded from the fangs of hyenas in their lives: an estranged uncle who tries to cajole her mother into giving away her inheritance, crippling debts, and daily violence against women in the patriarchy-haunted Pakistani society. Mariam starts to seek solace in a nascent romance, but an accident encroaches on her small happiness and conjures all her nightmares into the daylight.
