Synopsis

Jakrawal Nilthamrong’s second feature film features two parallel narratives: In the present, Maem is an old woman nursing her comatose husband, a general who committed atrocities decades ago. Meanwhile, her mind wanders back to the 1960s, when she was just a clockmaker’s daughter being courted by two men: a poor rickshaw driver and the army captain she would eventually marry. Beneath Jakrawal’s atmospheric vibe and beautifully composed visuals lie an uncompromising depiction of Thailand’s traumatic past and a poignant story about a woman trying to make sense of the fleeting nature of time.
