Synopsis
Moroccan-Dutch Karim returns home to tell his parents that he is gay to put an end to the anguish he feels at living a double life. Talking to them about his homosexuality puts their love for him to the test, creating conflict for Karim, his family and their community. Director Shariff Nasr shows how the Middle East’s ‘culture of silence’ creates heartbreak for individuals and families, and explores how breaking that silence is necessary to allow love (‘el houb’ in Arabic) to heal those wounds.
