Diamantino is a mega-successful, Ronaldo-resembling footballer whose flawless athleticism on the pitch is matched by a complete lack of intellect off it. This makes him the perfect dupe of his two racketeering sisters’ gambits and a politician’s ultra-nationalist campaign to make Portugal great again via cloned footballers. Falling into disgrace after a costly mistake in an important international match, Diamantino seeks solace by adopting a refugee – not knowing the boy’s actually a cross-dressing undercover policewoman who will shake his life up forever, in perhaps one of the most anarchic film about sports, politics and genetic science ever.
