Synopsis

An expensive, epic war film that celebrates the Polish Legions, the nationalist battalions who rose up to fight for Polish independence against Russia during the first world war. Boasting re-enactments of the real-life battles from 1914 to 1916, Legions explores this particular historical epoch through the struggles and romances of individual soldiers: from sharp-shooting snipers to audacious intelligence agents, and from fictional deserters from the Russian Tsarist forces to real-life Polish generals. It's a universal story about its characters' and their country's entry into adulthood in the most difficult of times, and their growth into protagonists on an international stage.
