Synopsis
Official Selection: BFI Flare London LGBTIQ Film Festival 2020, Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival 2020CRAZY RICH ASIANS’ Henry Golding offers a quiet portrayal of a Vietnamese man returning to his birthplace to rediscover his roots. Having lived in the UK since he was 8 years old, Kit finds Saigon a strange and yet familiar land. He feels distant from family members but encounters with an American man who offers him a sense of comfort. This gorgeous art-house movie by Cambodian-British director Hong Khaou is loosely based on his own experience as a refugee. The film’s observation of an immigrant’s sentiment is touching, tender and poignant. Khaou’s previous film, LILTING was a festival hit and he brings an equally thoughtful and graceful film to our screens with MONSOON.
