Synopsis

Divorced officer Yeon-soo is dispatched to a remote island to serve as its police chief. She already has enough on her plate between her panic disorder and a rebellious daughter who resents her. Then she notices something suspicious about the interactions between male villagers and Yae-eun, a girl who was raised on the island after losing her parents. Yeon-soo is determined to investigate the island’s dark secrets, but this runs counter to the villagers’ efforts to rebrand the island as a tourist destination. Park Jung-bum delves into the dark and ambiguous recesses of human nature in this haunting study of greed, trauma and moral decay in an isolated community.
