I leave.” Despite strict rules of play, straight Syrian refugee Waseem nonetheless finds himself striking up a complex relationship with one of his gay-for-pay sex work clients. Polar opposites in privilege, Waseem and the affluent Lars find themselves in a ballet of intrigue and power play, suppressing an interest in each other that they both fear. Back in the refugee shelter where Waseem sleeps, word spreads of the intricate friendship and his worlds collide. An evocative and powerful statement by up-and-coming writer-director Kai Kreuser.
