Synopsis
Official Selection – OUTFEST Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival

Have you ever seen outrageous Japanese going into a small alleyway and disappear behind a tiny closed door? Or looked at hip Japanese magazines wondering where they got their ideas from? Here is your chance to get behind those secret doorways into the kaleidoscopic view of LGBTQ culture in contemporary Japan. Culled from 100 interviews conducted over 3 years across the nation, QUEER JAPAN features dozens of individuals sharing their experiences in their own words, including manga artist Gengoroh Tagame and his world of unapologetically erotic gay comics. These are inspiring people in a country with a unique history of queer expression.
Director
Graham Kolbeins

Vivian Sato, Gengoroh Tagame, Aya Kamikawa, Saeborg
