Synopsis

Official Selection: BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Whistler Film Festival

Sid (Debargo Sanyal) is under pressure by her mother (Zena Darawalla) to marry a nice Indian girl and raise a family. However when Sid comes out as a woman, a 14 year old boy named Ralph (Jamie Mayers) shows up at her door announcing Sid is his father, Sid’s mother’s dream comes true in an unexpected way. Ralph surprised that his father is now a woman thinks having a transgender parent is pretty cool. To further complicate Sid’s life suddenly becoming a parent, her boyfriend Daniel (Pierre-Yves Cardinal) isn’t out with his family. Venus is a beautiful, very funny and heartfelt story and you can’t help falling for this modern family.
